sigh of relief
It went well! Really well! Even the good Congressman came up and thanked me for a lovely prayer afterwards.
This ends a long tradition of what I have thought of as my abysmal public speaking skills. The last time I spoke in front of a large crowd, as a senior in high school, I actually forgot the name of someone I had known for three years. And even for small things, the shakiness of my voice was embarassing.
Today was different. I think I represented us well. Alhamdullilah :)

I have a HUGE fear about speaking in public....my hands shake along with my voice, and I suddenly begin to sound like I quit school in 5th grade (um, ya, well, so that is what happened, uh well, ya...stuff.....).
Mega-props to you for doing it--and at such a worthy event, too! :)
As a former speech teacher (that's right, I actually taught speech at a local business school to people your age), I can assure you that your voice shook only in your ears and not in your audiences. It's a very strange phenomenon, something akin to tingulation (if that's the word I mean). Tintinulation?
Anyway, I've already commented at the next post and will leave you alone unless you choose to grace me with a reply.
Alhamdullilah with happy face? You're not serious . . . .:;)-+=(}
Hey. What are those monkeys doing in twilightmonkey's picture?
"Zookeeper, Zookeeper, those monkeys are ..." (A Simpson's episode)
Ooops. I meant two posts from here. (Please, someone hit me over the head with a hammer so I can shut up and go to sleep.)
Oopps. Changed persona/nom de plumes in front of Allah/God/AndEverybody.
Yow! The letters that I have to type are like some Biblical?Koranal person's name! Well, I'll be damned.
Goodness sakes alive. I've trudged through all these entertaining, well-written comments and all I can think is, "Crap! Smart people I don't actually know have found my blog."
Once you get around on the Blogosphere, you get tasked on two things---accountability and rationality. At least, you do if you want to appear somewhat level-headed and your blog, readable. Excellent.
Gotta post a smiley with an Alhamdullilah. Can't go around frightening the non-Muslims, you know.
